So I dunno what happened to my last post on Doorly- must be something to do with Blogger. But anyway the news that Calvin Harris is playing Party in the Park @ Temple Newsam in Leeds tomorow has inspired me to repost at least one of the songs I linked to the other day. Now all I need is to find a ticket from somewhere...

It happens every year in Britain. Summer seems non existant and people spend their time in doors complaining about it. Following on from my fellow bloggers earlier post, here are the songs that make summer seem like it could last forever. Perfect with a few beers and some good company.

Classic rock! This needs no introduction really.

Happy Up Here - Royksopp

Here's a slightly more up to date tune by electronic duo Royksopp. They've been around for years apparently, making good music quietly, slipping under the radar of the mainstream almost entirely. This might just be the happiest sounding song I've ever heard though so it comes highly recommended, as does the album 'Junior'.

Pirates - Hostage

So when the sun goes down you need something to go crazy to, right? Hostage will do just nicely with the song Pirates. Most every song I've ever heard by Hostage has an insanely infectious energy about it that doesn't give you much of a choice about dancing all night.

July Rain

Here at MTDT, even if it's raining in July as it is today we try not to forget what we live for and that's summer. So as we're all in the same boat, sat in our bedrooms, lounges and crack dens avoiding the weather only ducks can love, let's not forget that it is still technically summer. So here's some music that we love to listen to when we're laid in a field and the sun is shining.

Groove Armada-At the river

A good long song that's been featured in plenty of summer mixes and probably used on millions of adverts, but I still think it's ace. It's got catchy lyrics that even my grandma knows so why wouldn't you listen to it.

Bumblebeez-Rio (Boy 8-bit remix)

I love any thing with the words boy 8-bit attached to it and this is no exception. Listen to 2:00 minutes plus at least and impress your nearest and dearest with your best chuffle shuffle, every one loves a laugh when it's raining like this.

The Bellamy Brothers- Let your love flow

from the Barclay card advert and I've been whistling it for at least a whole day now and so should you.

Djedjotronic

I don't know much about this DJ yet!, but after listening to Djedjotronic's Mixtape 6 to 5 megamix, rammed with remixes that I love like boy 8-bit's remix of bumblebeez, rio and the Proxy remix of Digitalisms, home zone, it was like my favourite iTunes compressed into 50 minutes of madness. So I was looking forward to any thing that he released this year with his name attached to it and the remix of Major lazers, Hold the line is exactly the sort of electronic stuff I'll be listening to this summer and is definitely a perfect solution to any boring 3 minutes 58 seconds I might encounter this July. Circlesquare

Circlesquare is Canadian Jeremy Shaw's one man project. He manages to combine a stripped down sound with a distinctly electronic edging to create something incredibly atmospheric. Add to this distinctly personal lyrics, and you've got an album for freezing early mornings and bad news. Melancholy indeed. But in a good way. Real Post Time- Chester French

So here's my first contribution to this young, upstart blog. And in the spirit of beginning things and tenuous links to good music, here's a song called "Starting a Band" by a group named Chester French. The song is taken from their free mixtape "Jacques Jams", features producer Clinton Sparks, and has a great pop rock sound- perfect for the summer months. The entire mixtape itself features a good range of guests too, including Cassie, N.O.R.E., Solange, Wale and Pharrell.

The album was given away for free by the band (possibly because they're awesome?) and is probably still out there somewhere in the ether. I hear they're set to support Blink 182 with Weezer in the summer- a sign of things to come for these guys no doubt.
